The Tattoo Experienced Regrets

Tattoos are very popular in today’s society. They are not only seen as art but as a tool for individuals to express themselves and establish a self-identity. The symbols and design behind tattoos also have a deep emotional meaning. As humans develop, so do their minds and thoughts. That is why it’s not uncommon for people to grow out of their tattoos or just not liking them anymore.

Here are some of the reasons people often end up regretting their tattoo:

  • Regretful Mistake
  • Misspelled Words
  • More of an Obstacle
  • Cause of Unhappiness
  • Bad Memories
  • Poor Choice

Regretful Mistake:

Getting a tattoo just for the fun of it or because it’s trendy can be a source of later on regretting that tattoo. Not getting a tattoo for you, will leave you with a regretful tattoo.

Peer pressure can be a big factor in getting a regretful tattoo. Kelly Osbourne spoke up about having been tattooed as a way to rebel against her parents, while knowing they wouldn’t approve. She feels that most of her tattoos were a mistake. The procedure of removing the tattoo through laser was even more hurtful for her than getting a tattoo done.

Misspelled Words:

Misspelling a tattoo can be the result of a bad tattoo design. Tattoos of meaningful quotes or words can be beautiful, but if they are misspelled, they can be a source of discomfiture.

Ariana Grande

To celebrate the launch of her new song “7 Rings”, the pop singer Ariana Grande got herself a tattoo. She wanted her name to be written in Japanese, but her fans noticed that the tattoo instead actually said “Japanese BBQ finger.” To reverse the mistake she had to change the tattoo.

More of an Obstacle:

Tattoos are getting more acceptable, but they still can be an obstacle to getting into that company you always wanted to work at. Even in other areas they can be quite the hurdle.

Pete Davidson

Pete Davidson has added over 100 tattoos to his ink collection. Many of his fans were shocked on hearing that the SNL star was in the process of getting them all removed. During a virtual Q&A, the actor said that it would be easier just lasering them off than having to spend hours in the makeup chair getting his tattoos covered up each day for shooting.

Cause of unhappiness:

The biggest reason for getting a tattoo was for it to remind you of something impactful in your life or just to keep that cool design forever by you.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams realized that his tattoos no longer made him “happy”, so he got them removed through lasering. Among the tattoos he had grown out of were the flames on his upper body, telling reporters that, “I got fire on my arms, I don’t need fire on my arms! I’m a grown man.”

bad memories:

Tattoos can be a reminder of memorable experiences, but also a reminder of something you would rather forget, such as a past relationship. It can be a source of regret.

Kaley Cuoco

The actress got the date of her wedding tattooed on her back, in 2013. Sadly, her marriage didn’t last long. She fixed the regretful tattoo by getting a new butterfly design to cover up her previous one. The situation was taken more funnily and she used it to advise people to keep them from getting tattoos they would regret. She shared on Instagram, writing, “Note to self do not mark your body with any future wedding dates.”

Poor choice:

Finding and choosing the right tattoo for you is not easy. And sometimes at that moment you could find a design to your liking but later on not finding it that great anymore.

Jessica Alba

She made a decision at a young age to get a flower tattoo. If time travel were possible, then she would have stopped herself from getting that regretful tattoo on the back of her neck. She says: “I got it when I was like 17 and I’m so irritated that I got it. I got it lasered many times and it’s not coming out.”
